The Public Speaking Diet: How to Use AI to Feed Your Voice
Your voice is your body. And what you “feed” it every day — the words, the phrases, the practice — that’s your speaking diet.
The problem? Most people don’t even know what their speaking diet is. They binge on random vocabulary lists like junk food. Or they starve themselves, waiting for the “right time” to practice. That’s why their English feels either too forced or too empty.
I want you to think of AI as your personal dietician for English. It doesn’t hand you a one-size-fits-all thali. It listens to your body, your goals, your level — and then creates a diet plan for your speaking growth.
If you’re a lawyer, your diet may include phrases like “My learned friend,” “with due respect,” “in light of the evidence.”
If you’re a corporate manager, your diet may be “Let’s take this offline,” “I recommend we prioritize,” “Can you share your screen?”
If you’re a student, your diet may start with “Can you repeat the question?” “In my opinion…” “According to my research…”
You don’t have to guess this. You can ask AI directly:
“I am a B.Tech student preparing for placements. Give me 20 useful phrases to use in group discussions, with examples.”
“I am a doctor. Create a speaking diet of 15 sentences I can use daily with patients.”
“I am an entrepreneur. Suggest powerful opening lines for pitching my startup idea.”
This becomes your speaking thali — not random items, but customized nutrition.
And just like diet, it’s not about one meal. You can’t eat one plate of dal and say “Now I am healthy.” You can’t practice one day and say “Now I am fluent.” You need consistency. You need to consume these phrases daily, repeat them, play with them, make them part of your system.
The beauty of AI is that you can keep customizing. If one dish doesn’t suit you, replace it. If you get bored of the same taste, ask AI for new recipes. “Give me more polite alternatives for saying no.” “Teach me confident ways to interrupt in a meeting.” “Show me phrases for motivating my team without sounding bossy.” Every time you refine, you are upgrading your diet.
And yes, just like diet, there will be days when you slip. You’ll go back to filler words, or freeze in a sentence. That’s normal. Don’t punish yourself. Just get back on the diet tomorrow.
This is not about shortcut. It’s not about magic. It’s about access. You already have the kitchen, the ingredients, and the personal chef — AI. What you need is the discipline to eat daily.
So feed your voice well. Build your public speaking diet. And if you enjoy these ideas, keep following my blogs, my videos, and yes — read my book The Confluent Speaker. Because this journey is not about starving or stuffing. It’s about eating right, with the help of AI, until your voice becomes strong, fluent, and fearless.
